Secret Saint Prayer

But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
Matthew 6:6

Join me in giving through secret prayer this Christmas season.

I'm asking the Holy Spirit to direct me as I pray for my family and friends. Without letting anyone know, it's ok if they find out, I'm seeking God for healings, salvation, provision and more.

I'll post some encouragement, from time to time, on the Peoria Prayer Center blog and Facebook page. But pray in hiddenness with confidence.

I suggest you take the first few seasons of prayer and ask Father what to pray for and listen for any insight He might reveal to you. Hold these revelations close to the chest. Be like Mary the mother of Jesus and ponder these things in your heart.

This is a busy time of life but here are some places you might find helpful in your quest for secret prayer

  1. In the car driving
  2. Take a pause during errands or shopping
  3. Trade a tv show for some intercession
  4. Once a week trade lunch for a hidden time of prayer. I sometimes grab a coffee and drive to the park and pray
  5. Go to bed early, but lie and cry out to God before falling to sleep
  6. Fake read a book. Pray as you hold the book as a defence against conversation or distractions
  7. If you're a mom with young kids you might turn you intercession into songs. Sing to help them sleep or hide you prayers in words of comfort as you care for your child

With the coming of the Lord I want to give some great gifts this year. We can do this.

Here are some passages to ponder. We often have a focus when we pray. Our emotions or faith is activated under certain conditions. What speaks to you from these text? What mindset can we developed that will make us more fruitful?

“Ask,  and it will be given to you;  seek, and you will find;  knock, and it will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.  Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?  Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent?  If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
Matthew 7:7‭-‬11 ESV

If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.  By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.
John 15:7‭-‬8 ESV

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
John 15:16 ESV

Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; and whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him.
1 John 3:22

And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.
1 John 5:14‭-‬15 ESV
