Contemplative Prayer Retreat on Your Journey

Generally, there are four different parts of our walk or journey with God.

1.       Traveling towards/repositioning/repenting
2.       Camping/waiting/rest
3.           Assent/moving upward to fellowship/abide
4.           Descent/moving outward to minister/serve/give

Life is more confusing then it needs to be when we do not know what leg of the journey we are on. When we don’t know what God is doing in our lives, we feel lost, uncomfortable or even anxious. Add to this discomfort our tendency to take matters into our own hands as we can add burdens to our lives as we live as if we are in one stage while being in a different stage.

This season of contemplation is designed to help you hear from the Lord what stage of the journey He has you in. We also need the wisdom to understand when our jobs are on one stage, our family in another and our service to the Lord in another. These complications seem worse then they are when we are tired and desire life to be easier. But the same complications are additions of beauty and adventure when we have confidence and courage in our walk with the Lord.

In each of the two sessions choose an area of your life that you desire God to speak into. Rest and listen to God’s wisdom and perspective. Don’t try to figure it out. Allow yourself to be a child of God and have Father speak into your life. Ask for help and courage to obey. Reach out and hold onto the Holy Spirit who guides, empowers and leads you.

Jeremiah 17:7 NASB

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.
