Prayer, sin and God
I work a lot with sinners. Most of them are like me and don't think much about there sin. As "God lovers," "church goers," and "people of prayer" we tend to live with sin but not think of it much. We have been trained in the last few decades to see ourselves in many ways other that as a sinners. I know that a foundational prayer for the church was, "Lord have mercy on me a sinner," but we are trained not to think that way now. I've been rebuked by leaders for dealing with myself as a sinner. I've also been repuked for dealing with others as sinners.
In the text I photocliped you can see how a sinner king was known for moving God in intercession, sin and righteousness. I think I have been like that. I have seen answered prayer, sinned and had God work through me righteously. So if my reality is three things do I need to only acknowledge one? Is the triune God only Jesus?
My agenda is this: if we don't openly acknowledge our sinfulness, we will not openly be humble and teachable. We will hear the other side and then embrace our own mindset. We will listen to a completing prophecy and then strengthen our belief in our own. We will love others but not as much as we do ourselves. Right now I am tired of leaders who say they are sinners because it builds credibility with the audience, but out of public view they act like mini-gods.
I think the Book of Life may have the following comments next to my name.
* loves God
* acts stupid
* sinner
* moved God in prayer
* needs to improve communication skills
* prideful about shooting skills and flyfishing.
