Deception the Kingdom of God and You

Deception the Kingdom of God and You We might not be able to live long on the earth and avoid being deceived and deceiving someone else.  When this happens relationships can suffer, trust can be damaged and hope destroyed.  In the best of situations relationships struggle to be rebuilt.  In the worst of times people just quit on one another. Deception comes in several forms. The person that lies or intentionally misleads with information. The person that leaves out information to mislead, not sharing or revealing enough information to give an accurate picture.  Allowing someone to come to their own conclusions can be as devious as intentionally lying to them. The person who finds emotional, situational or cultural buttons to push along with the information.  These buttons turn on bias that the person sharing is counting on to sway, persuade or influence. Often this includes statements like "Someone said" where the "someone" is influential in the o...

God and Your Life

Image
God and Your Life It may seem hard to see at times, but our lives are filled with God.   Even when we are running away from God or just "taking time off" God is still active in loving and drawing us nearer to him.   This ever drawing nature of God is the reason our lives are full of His activity.   If we all did a better job of record keeping (journaling) we would know better that God is leading us, He is moving us toward Himself.   From my years of reading the Church Fathers and Mystics I understand that those times when we tend to feel the most removed from God, we may actually be in a state of growth.   History is full of times of fast growth or easy growth.   We tend to call these "revival."   The "day in and day out" maturing into the image of Jesus Christ is not often celebrated or rewarded.   Enduring and persevering tend to have a more negative imagery in our minds than quickly advancing or having a progress that is easily vi...

The Great I Am

Here is a video I made to illustrate a section of a book I am writing.  I  think it applies to many of us who feel the pressure to "be all we can be"for the Lord.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObbIHqJpsds

Pray Without Ceasing

Image
In the middle of the following passage is the call or command to "pray without ceasing".  We don't get to choose from this list those things we want to do.  Every word of scripture is to be obeyed.  One of those things we are to grow into is "unceasing prayer."  So how do we do that? 1 Thessalonians 5:14-22 (14)  We urge you, brethren, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with everyone.  (15)  See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people.  (16)  Rejoice always;  (17)  pray without ceasing ;  (18)  in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.  (19)  Do not quench the Spirit;  (20)  do not despise prophetic utterances.  (21)  But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;  (22)  abstain from every form...

How to Stay Encouraged in Prayer

Image
For those of us who desire to commune with God and also find ourselves in the fast lane of life, what do we do to have fellowship with God.  Here is my quick list. Turn your guilt to thankfulness.  If you feel like your job is stealing your prayer time, thank God for your job and praise Him while you work. When you worry about being to busy, stop.  Once you stop worrying  start to intercede and ask God for opportunity to pray.  Turn worry to intercession.  Don't surf facebook or social media without praying for each person when you stop and read their post.  Integrate joy or "mindless" activity with God. Don't sit in front of the TV.  Sit on the poach  in the back yard or even off by yourself   You will commune more with God by avoiding TV, computers and media.  (thanks for following #3 and praying for me as you read this) Don't try to schedule a hour or a ...
